What's New In Ingeniux CMS 5
 Overview
The most exciting Ingeniux release in years. Ingeniux CMS Version 5 introduces a new user interface, groundbreaking new features, an extended SDK, and a powerful new XSL:FO publishing engine for Adobe PDF. Developers will appreciate a set of new elements for creating groups, arrays and lists. Administrators will enjoy a new Link Checker UI, enhanced Page Creation Rules, a more modular architecture, and a new tabbed Admin client. Here are some of the groundbreaking new features included in Ingeniux CMS 5.0. New UI A new look for Ingeniux CMS? You bet. Ingeniux has spent the last year working with a leading usability firm to improve the Ingeniux experience. The result: An up-to-date UI and a more intuitive user experience; a new set of tool bar icons and controls; and a tab-based Administration client are just a few of the improvements. Moreover, we have simplified a number of the tasks in the CMS to make it easier to manage and update content.
New DHTML Editor Your users will love this new editor. It is a very robust and configurable editor that makes writing HTML a snap. The new editor has been integrated into the product and allows you to permission toolbar items based on Users or Groups. It has three paste options: Paste Normal, From Microsoft Word, and Clear Text. An HTML forms builder provides WYSIWYG forms building.
Publish as PDF Ingeniux CMS can now take advantage of an XSL: FO processor to render pages as PDF. By default the CMS will ship with the Apache FOP Processor. Users can render individual pages or entire publishing targets as PDF.
Link Checker Verify and fix links in minutes. Link Checker validates both external “http:” references as well as internal xID page references.
Page Creation Rule Inheritance With PCR Inheritance sections of your Web site will now inherit their parent’s page creation rules – allowing users to move pages within the tree and retain or inherit Page Creation Rules.
Component Picker Dialog A groundbreaking new way to organize and apply components. A new UI element has been added to all components. Using a Pick button users can select a component without having to search the site tree. The Pick Component dialog will limit the components you can choose based on permissions as well as the component type. The dialog supports both filtering and searching as well as providing a simple preview of any selected component.
New Group Element Organize the content on your pages into groups. The Group Element is a simple way to visually associate sections of content on a page – and allow you to expand and collapse groups to organize your working environment; eg, Main Content, Meta Data, Related Links or Right column Content.
Related Links Element Create custom content groupings by dragging and dropping content into an expandable link element. You can add and remove related links and easily repurpose content from across your Web site.
New Password Element It is now possible to create an encrypted element that is safe to store sensitive information in. The encryption is base64. The UI will render these fields as bullets. A new permission was added to allow specific users to edit the encoded password values.
Component Typing Components now support the concept of a Component Type. This enables a site designer to limit the kinds of components (based on schema) that can be assigned to a general component element.
New System Options Dialog A new and improved panel based dialog used for setting system wide settings. This exposes the interface for items such as Global Exports, FOP setup, Logging options, and server cache settings. |
